YOU CAN SAVE THE RAINFOREST INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Jeffrey A Hank- President
You Can Save The Rainforest Inc. was founded in 2003 by environmentalist, attorney, entrepreneur, and political activist Jeffrey Hank. A longtime Love of Nature and a deep concern for and connection with the environment, in the face of utter inaction by governments and private profit and non-profit actors alike, led Jeffrey to decide that He himself had to do something to try and remedy the situation, to save the environment, to save habitat, to spread peace and goodwill throughout the land, and indeed, as daunting and impossible or ridiculous as it may sound to some, to save the world itself. Dan Bock- Secretary Dan Bock grew up in Midland, Michigan, which is a bit of a hotbed for environmental litigation. Growing up in Midland exposed Dan to environmental issues at a young age, and his concerns over environmental issues prompted him to study environmental law. Dan graduated Cum Laude from Michigan State University College of Law in May, 2007 with a concentration in Environmental and Natural Resource Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Environmental Law Society, worked as an extern at the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, competed in the Pace Law School National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, and worked as a research assistant to environmental law professor Nora Morag-Levine. While Dan personally believes that we should protect our natural resources because it is the morally right thing to do, he realizes that this is not the only approach to environmental issues. Moral arguments are great for rallying people who already agree with them, but they are not convincing to people who do not share the geocentric point of view. Therefore, Dan believes that it is also important to find economic arguments in favor of environmentalism. In short, his goal in working for You Can Save the Rainforest, Inc. is to help make environmentalism make sense to everyone. Joel Farrar- Director
Joel Farrar is an attorney at Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. in Lansing, Michigan. He practices primarily in the fields of business, tax, estate planning and executive compensation law. Joel graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law and received a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of earth science education from Ohio University. Although Joel’s interest in environmental protection originated from altruistic views, his environmental philosophy has evolved to utilitarian protectionism. Joel believes that responsible environmental stewardship is necessary for the maintenance of modern social structures and for our species’ long-term survival. Recognizing that environmental protection contrary to market forces is unrealistic and ineffective long-term, Joel believes that the primary tools of environmental stewardship must be economically productive and profitable—a viewpoint he brings to You Can Save the Rainforest, Inc.
